The Water Feature, Sovereign Harbour, Eastbourne

The Columbus Point development at Sovereign Harbour South, Eastbourne, has one of the largest water features in Europe. The 310-metre-long, anchor-shaped concrete structure, which comprises channels, cascades, and fountains and is crossed by pedestrian bridges, was officially opened in December 2003.

Owners of 369 residential properties (houses and apartments) in the area are covenanted in their deeds to pay for the water feature's management, running and maintenance.

CPMCL

The water feature is owned, managed, and maintained by Columbus Point (Management Company) Limited (CPMCL), a company set up by the developer for this purpose. In 2015, the company was transferred from the developer to the collective control of the local covenanted property owners; at the same time, the freehold of the feature was transferred to CPMCL.

Latest Update
For the foreseeable future, the Water Feature will be running for two hours daily, from 11am until 1pm.  From Monday 14th October, the cauldrons at the end of legs 1 and 3 will run for an hour daily from 11.30am to 12.30am.  Leg 2 cauldron will be added shortly thereafter.  While the cauldron pumps use a lot of energy, not running them risks damage and the consequential significant cost of replacement.
Notice
Please note that the pumps serving the fountains and jets have been turned off temporarily while an issue with the electricity supply is being investigated (see Members Newsletters)
Defibrillator
Our October 2023 Newsletter contains information about the defibrillator that is located near the St Kitts entrance to the water feature.
Read it on our News Archive page...

Caution
The water in the feature is dosed with chemicals to restrict algae growth.  The chemicals could cause a skin rash and stomach problems, so entering the water is very ill-advised and prohibited.
Keep children out of the water.
